Revised ATR-BC Application Process for State Licensed ATRs
The ATCB Board of Directors voted to change the policy regarding board certification (ATR-BC) of applicants who passed the Art Therapy Credentials Board Examination (ATCBE) solely for the purpose of obtaining state licensure.
Effective June 1, 2008, those who have passed the ATCBE in order to become state licensed, but prior to applying for the ATR-BC, will not be required to retake the examination when applying for the ATR-BC. This new policy will apply only if the completed application for the ATR-BC is received within three years (or 36 months) of the licensure examination date. All applicants for the ATR-BC must be current ATRs prior to applying for the ATR-BC. Therefore, any prospective applicants for the ATR-BC must first apply and successfully complete ATR application requirements including, but not limited to, application and maintenance fees.
