Taking the ATCBE for State Licensure

In some states, a passing score on the ATCBE is a condition for licensure. State approval is required in order to take the exam for state licensure. Please refer to the state-by-state information provided below. You may apply for the ATCBE for state licensure by clicking the link below.

Kentucky Licensure Candidates

If you have been approved to take the ATCBE as a requirement for licensure in Kentucky, the next available paper-and-pencil administration will be on November 11, 2017. You must apply online. September 1, 2017 is the early deadline to apply for the November 11, 2017 exam for a fee of $235. September 29, 2017 is the final deadline, and the fee is $260 after September 1.

Please be advised that if you apply to take the ATCBE you are required to submit a copy of your approval letter from the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Art Therapists. In addition, your name must be included on the list of approved candidates that the Kentucky Board provides to the ATCB for this purpose. Maryland Licensure Candidates

If you have been approved to take the ATCBE as a requirement for licensure in Maryland, please visit the Examinations page for available computer-based testing (CBT) administrations. The next available paper-and-pencil administration will be on November 11, 2017. September 1, 2017 is the early deadline to apply for the November 11, 2017 exam for a fee of $235. September 29, 2017 is the final deadline, and the fee is $260 after September 1. You must apply online.

In addition, your name must be included on the list of approved candidates that the Maryland Board provides to the ATCB for this purpose. New Mexico Licensure Candidates

If you have been approved to take the ATCBE as a requirement for licensure in New Mexico, the next available paper-and-pencil administration will be on November 11, 2017. You must apply online. September 1, 2017 is the early deadline to apply for the November 11, 2017 exam for a fee of $235. September 29, 2017 is the final deadline, and the fee is $260 after September 1.

New York Licensure Candidates

Special Examination Accommodations for State Examinees

If you are planning to test for state licensure and are in need of testing accommodations, you must contact your state licensure board for information regarding testing accommodations. The ATCB cannot provide accommodations without approval from your state licensure board.
